Our Lawyers Represent Victims of Dangerous Drugs
Prescription drugs often have side effects that can cause serious injuries to the people who use them. As long as doctors and people prescribed them are warned, they can avoid uses that would lead to serious health risks, or at least balance those risks with the benefits of the drug. Sadly, pharmaceutical companies sometimes deliberately withhold information about a drug's side effects. This is the case with the drug Reglan.
At the Speights Law Firm, our lawyers file claims to hold pharmaceutical companies accountable when they place their profits above the safety of consumers. We represent families who have suffered injuries as a result of taking the prescription drug Reglan in San Antonio, Houston/Galveston, the Rio Grande Valley, and other areas of central, south, and southeast Texas.
Tardive Dyskinesia: An Avoidable Tragedy
Reglan is a drug used to treat acid reflux disease in people of all ages. In February of 2009, the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) warned that Reglan should not be used for more than 90 days in a row, or it can cause a condition called Tardive Dyskinesia. This irreversible condition results in symptoms similar to Parkinson's disease, including heart tremors, slurred speech and uncontrollable muscle movements. Sadly, the condition often affects children who were prescribed Reglan to treat heartburn.
A.H. Robins Company, the manufacturer of Reglan, has known about the links between Tardive Dyskinesia and Reglan since at least 2004. Yet the company failed to warn doctors and consumers about the risks of prolonged use.
A child afflicted with Tardive Dyskinesia is likely to need long term care and financial support as a result of the condition. The monetary compensation you may be able to receive from a personal injury claim can have a major affect on the quality of your child's life going forward.
Reglan is typically prescribed in four forms:
- Reglan tablets
- Reglan oral disintegrating tablets
- Metoclopramide oral solution
- Reglan injection
Contingency fee representation: We handle Reglan side effect cases on a contingency fee basis. This means that we are only paid attorney's fees if and when we obtain money for you. If we don't get money for you, you don't have to pay us anything.
